Falmouth author Patrick M. Blake will be part of the grand opening of the Rinaldo & Cross Gallery on Main Saturday, December 2, from 10 AM to 9 PM. Mr. Blake will speak about his book, “The Cross of Gallantry” at the gallery between 5 and 7 PM. The book, which Mr. Blake self-published this year, is an account of the Vietnam War and the Marines who fought and died during combat operations along the DMZ in 1967 and 1968, told both personally and as a political commentary.
In the late 1960s Mr. Blake spent a year in the Pensacola Naval Hospital recovering from wounds he received in Vietnam. After declining a medical discharge he reenlisted in the Marine Corps on a medical waiver and spent another six years on active duty. Mr. Blake’s second career was in the computer software industry where today he is president of his own life science software and consulting company.
A formal ribbon-cutting for the new gallery, at 317 Main Street, will be at 5 PM. Artists represented in the gallery will be on hand. Refreshments will be available.
