The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster will present a new installment of its series Lunch ‘n Learn with Christie Lowrance, author of “Nature’s Ambassador: The Legacy of Thornton W. Burgess” on Thursday, May 27, at noon.

Ms. Lowrance will discuss the unique role in environmental protection and education that Cape Cod native and beloved children’s author Thornton Burgess played in influencing conservation and the environmental values of generations of children, including the story of how a children’s book helped pass the landmark 1918 Migratory Bird Treaty Act.

Ms. Lowrance’s news and feature articles have appeared in The Boston Globe, Cape Cod Times, Barnstable Patriot, Cape Cod Life and many other publications. For many years she was a travel editor for Fodor’s Cape Cod, Insider’s Guide, and Cape Cod Travel Guide. At present Ms. Lowrance is writing the biography of Dr. George F. Bass, widely considered “the father of underwater archaeology.”

Admission to Lunch ’n Learn is $25 per person and includes a box lunch. Sandwich choices are roast beef, turkey club or tomato basil. Advance reservations are required by May 26 at noon. Call 508-896-3867, extension 133.
