The documentary “Meetinghouses of Barnstable” will be shown on Tuesday, August 31, at 6 PM at the Sturgis Library. The film explores the history, growth and development of the various meetinghouses of Barnstable and takes the viewer from the modest beginnings of the 1616 Congregational movement in England up to the East and West Parishes we know today.

Producer Steve Howland and local historian Nancy Viall Shoemaker will be available for a question-and-answer period after the film.

Reserve a spot by e-mailing sturgisreference@comcaset.net. Registration is required.

The library is at 3090 Main Street in Barnstable.
