CCMNH Honey Bee

Honeybees will take center stage at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster August 17, when the museum celebrates National Honey Bee Day.

The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster will be celebrating National Honey Bee Day tomorrow from 9:30 AM to 4 PM.

The public can join the CCMNH Bee Team for fun activities as the team brings community awareness of the importance of honeybees through education and the promotion of cooperation among growers, homeowners and beekeepers. Topics to be covered will include life in the hive with the workers, drones and the queen; pollination and collecting nectar; and bee products such as honey and beeswax.

Activities will include live hive openings, Bee Team docents to answer questions, honeybee and pollinator arts and crafts, and the film “Silence of the Bees” playing continuously all day in the John Hay Room.

All activities are free with museum admission except for live bee hive openings, which are $4 for members and $5 for nonmembers, and require reservations.

The museum is at 869 Route 6A in Brewster.
