The Cape Cod Toy Library is seeking first-time and seasoned storytellers from the Cape and islands to share true stories about mothers and motherhood.

“Cape & Islands’ Listen To Your Mother,” a Cape Cod Toy Library Special Event, will be held on Thursday, May 7, in the auditorium at the First Lutheran Church, 1663 Main Street (Route 6A) in West Barnstable. Start time is 7 PM. Doors open at 6:30.

The event will be held in person if possible, or virtually if necessary.

The event is seeking stories of love, loss, learning, compassion, grief and healing as well as joy and humor.

Audition signups are now active online at the Cape Cod Toy Library’s website for anyone who wants the opportunity to share personal stories of motherhood at this live-staged production. Appointments will be first come, first served until all slots are filled.

Auditions will be on Friday, April 17, from 3 to 6 PM and Saturday, April 18, from 8:30 to 10 AM and 4 to 6 PM.

Audition pieces should not exceed five minutes. Auditions are open to writers and non-writers, first-time and seasoned storytellers, and all genders, mothers and non-mothers. All selected cast are required to participate in cast storytelling meetings and dress rehearsals.

Tickets will be $10 per person in advance, $15 at the door.
