Theatre One in Middleboro is seeking 10-minute contemporary plays from Massachusetts and Rhode Island playwrights for a festival to be held next year.

The goal of the festival is for playwrights to be heard and encouraged. The winning playwright will receive the second Richard Pacheco Playwrighting Award of $100. No monologues, please.

The festival will be performed Friday and Saturday, April 17 and 18, at 7:30 PM; and Sunday, April 19, at 2 PM at the Alley Theatre, 133 Center Street, Middleboro.

Theatre One requests one submission per playwright. It should be easy on language, with a cast size of two to six and characters who range in age from their 20s to their 70s. There is no entrance fee. The final date of submission is Sunday, December 1.

Include all contact information along with a brief synopsis of the play and the playwright. No hard copies. All scripts must be submitted in PDF format or Word doc., font size of 12, and exactly 10 minutes in length. The plays selected will be performed script in hand. Playwrights will be notified if their work is selected by early January 2020, and are welcome to attend the festival at no charge.

Theatre One will also send, via snail mail, feedback of the play from a questionnaire filled out by audience members.
