To celebrate the season, the Sturgis Library will present a virtual discussion on the evolution of the scary story on Tuesday, October 12, from 6 to 7:30 PM.

Five horror authors will take part in the discussion. The lineup includes Nathan Ballingrud, Gabino Iglesias, Gwendolyn Kiste, Eric LaRocca, and Cynthia Pelayo. The group will talk about the origins of the genre stretching back to Edgar Allen Poe, what defines a scary story, and how the stories have morphed into what we know today in contemporary fiction. A digital book sale and question and answer period will follow the event.
