College-bound students in Falmouth can apply for West Falmouth Library’s annual scholarships.

The library manages two scholarship funds, the Arthur F. Hennessey, Jr. Scholarship Award and the Colonial Scholarship. The 2020 scholarship application can be obtained at the Falmouth High School Guidance Office, the Falmouth Academy scholarship database and at the West Falmouth Library circulation desk. Applications are due April 1.

The Colonial Scholarship is awarded through the Colonial Dames of the National Society of America, an organization that actively promotes our national heritage through historic preservation, patriotic service and educational projects. The scholarship is designed to ease the costs of higher education for one or two Falmouth High School seniors who exhibits academic excellence, participates in school and community activities, and demonstrate financial need.

The Arthur F. Hennessey, Jr. Scholarship, in addition to assisting students with furthering their education, honors the memory of Arthur F. Hennessey Jr., who gave his life in Vietnam on April 19,1965. The scholarship is offered to one or two students who attend high school in Falmouth, and reside in West Falmouth or can demonstrate strong ties to the community of West Falmouth.
