NBWM Huguette

This charcoal drawing by Huguette Despault May, part of her Hawser series, is currently on view as part of “A City for the Arts” at the New Bedford Whaling Museum.

“A City for the Arts: Masterworks of Greater New Bedford” continues through May 2021 in the Wattles Family Gallery, located inside the New Bedford Whaling Museum. The show celebrates the region’s impact through the centuries on American fine art. The region has been home to some of the country’s most revered master artists including American romanticist painter William Bradford, landscape painter Albert Bierstadt and nautical painter Clement Nye Swift.

The exhibit also includes works by contemporary local artists.

Pieces on exhibit are from the Whaling Museum’s collections as well as from private collections.

Hours for the New Bedford Whaling Museum are Wednesday through Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM. The museum is closed on both December 25 and January 1.
