Joe Q Veteran Coffee Break will celebrate Giving Tuesday on December 1. Giving Tuesday began in 2012 when the New York City 92nd Street Y partnered with the United Nations Foundation to designate the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving as a day to celebrate goodness and encourage giving.

The local group’s Giving Tuesday goal is to raise $2,000 to support programs for veterans, active and retired military service members and their families. Based in Falmouth and planning services for the broader Upper Cape area, the group is using findings from a veteran and family survey it launched earlier this month to understand the needs and design programs accordingly.

Joe Q is an all-inclusive organization works to provide veterans, active and retired military service members and their families with access to services and programs that meet their specific needs.

The coffee break concept was developed in June 2016 by the late Joe Quintiliani of Falmouth who recognized the need to build fellowship among area veterans and to provide them with vital information and guidance about programs and services available to veterans. The long-term vision for the group is to provide a meeting place and hub for veterans and family members in the Falmouth area to receive information, advice and coordinated services—and enjoy a cup of coffee together. Joe Q Veteran Coffee Break has set a course to make Joe Q’s vision a reality for Falmouth-area veterans and their families for many years to come.
