The Buzzards Bay Sail & Power Squadron will present a power boat handling seminar on Friday, June 14. The seminar will be based on Bob Sweet’s book, “Power Boat Handling Illustrated.”

The three-hour seminar will explain how and why a boat “does what it does,” and how a pilot can get it to do what the pilot wants it to do. Topics will include the use of lines, departing from a dock, operating in a fairway, pivoting, mooring, backing, docking, steering, slalom, holding a course, running a range, and stopping quickly.

Video clips and models will be used to help participants visualize common maneuvers.

The seminar will be held at the Jonathan Bourne Public Library, 19 Sandwich Road in Bourne, from 6:30 to 9:30 PM.

The cost is $25. Pre-registration is requested. To register, send a completed registration form along with a check made payable to “Buzzards Bay Sail & Power Squadron” to: Richard Moore, PO Box 1685, Sagamore Beach, MA 02562-1685.

Mr. Moore can also be reached by email at or by telephone at 508-888-8238.
