The following excerpts are from the Bourne Police Department logs dated Wednesday, August 14, through Tuesday, August 20.
Wednesday, August 14
At 3:35 PM, police responded to a two-car collision at the intersection of Scenic Highway and State Road in Sagamore Beach. Police said that the driver of a brown 2019 Chevrolet Equinox was stopped at the light preparing to take a left turn. The driver of a gray 2006 Chevrolet Malibu was in the same lane and rear-ended the Equinox, police said. The driver of the Malibu attempted to flee the scene, but was unable to drive off when his car engine died, police said. The driver of the Malibu was identified as Gary Gautier, 56, from Buzzards Bay. Mr. Gautier was cited with leaving the scene of a property damage accident, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. There were no reported injuries, police said.
Thursday, August 15
Police were called to a two-car crash at the corner of Norris Road and Old Plymouth Road in Sagamore Beach at 12:09 PM. Police said that a white 2012 Toyota Tacoma was stopped at the intersection stop sign. The driver, identified as Dara Qualter, 19, from Sagamore, proceeded to take a left turn, cutting off the driver of a blue 2010 Honda C-RV. The two cars collided, with the Tacoma crashing through a fence, police said. There were no reported injuries. Ms. Qualter was cited for failing to yield to traffic after stopping, police said.

A two-car crash brought police to the intersection of Sandwich Road and Ben Abbey Road in South Sagamore at 1:52 PM. Police said the driver of a red 2011 Toyota Sienna was stopped for the red light at the intersection. The driver of a black 2013 Mini-Cooper failed to stop and rear-ended the Sienna, police said. The driver of the Mini-Cooper was identified as Barbara Zullinger, 30, from Barnstable. Police said it was later determined that Ms. Zullinger had been texting while driving. She was cited for reading an electronic message while driving, police said. There were no reported injuries, police said.
Friday, August 16
At 12:01 PM, police issued written warnings to four drivers for making an improper turn from Scenic Highway onto Church Lane. The warnings were issued to the drivers of a black 1997 Ford F450 pickup truck, a black 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe, a black 2001 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and a gray 2019 Dodge 1500 pickup truck. All four took an illegal right turn off Scenic Highway onto Church Lane in an effort to bypass backed-up traffic headed toward the Sagamore Bridge, police said.

Police issued three more written warnings at 1:35 PM to drivers for making an improper turn off Scenic Highway onto Church Lane. Written warnings were given to the drivers of a gray 2010 Toyota Tacoma, a gray 2014 Toyota Camry and a blue 2019 Mercedes-Benz.

At 4:55 PM, police responded to a rear-end collision on Sandwich Road, near Gallo Ice Arena. Police said that two cars were going in the direction of Sagamore. The driver of gray 2011 Nissan Murano slowed for traffic, and it was rear-ended by the driver of a black 2016 Nissan Rogue. The driver of the Rogue was identified as Deanna H. Watson, 30, from Yarmouth Port. No one was hurt and Ms. Watson was cited for following too closely, police said.
Saturday, August 17
At 9:44 AM, police issued written warnings to five drivers for making an improper turn from Scenic Highway onto Church Lane. Police said the warnings were handed out to the drivers of a black 2019 Audi, a white 2018 Toyota Tacoma, a green 2004 Toyota Tundra, a black 2013 Ford Explorer and a blue 2004 Volkswagen Beetle. All four took an illegal right turn off Scenic Highway onto Church Lane in an effort to bypass backed-up traffic headed toward the Sagamore Bridge, police said.
Monday, August 19
A two-vehicle crash happened on Nightingale Pond Road at 1:02 AM. Police said a black 2006 Dodge Ram pickup truck was backing out of a driveway and collided with a gray 2010 Toyota Camry. The driver of the truck was identified as Jordan Lopes, 28, from Freetown. The driver of the Camry was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash, police said. Mr. Lopes was cited for failing to yield the right of way, police said.

An arrest was made on Scenic Highway at 11:07 PM. Police said that an officer monitoring traffic conducted a random check with the state Registry of Motor Vehicles of a gray 2007 Toyota Camry. The RMV indicated that the owner of the car had an active warrant out of Barnstable District Court. The warrant charged the owner with carrying a dangerous weapon, police said. The car was stopped and the driver identified as the registered owner of the car, Austin C. Friend, 36, from Hyannis. Mr. Friend was arrested on the warrant and ordered held without bail. He was taken to the Barnstable County Correctional Facility to await arraignment in Falmouth District Court the next day, police said.
Tuesday, August 20
At 6:02 PM, police made an arrest on Route 28A near the Otis Rotary. Police said an officer monitoring traffic at the rotary conducted a check of a green 2001 Infiniti. The check with the RMV indicated that the car had a failed inspection status, police said. The car was stopped and the driver identified as Stephen J. Ballem, 55, from Wareham. The RMV also indicted that Mr. Ballem’s license was under suspension, police said. He was arrested and charged with no inspection sticker; operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license; failing to wear a seat belt; unregistered motor vehicle and uninsured motor vehicle, police said. Police said Mr. Ballem was later released on personal recognizance.
