The following are excerpts from the Bourne Police Logs dated Thursday, September 17 through Wednesday, September 23.

Thursday, September 17

Police responded to a single-car crash at the West Rotary in Buzzards Bay at 10:05 PM. Police said the driver of a black 2015 Kia Optima entered the rotary from the Route 6 & 28 Bypass Road and struck some curbing. The driver was identified as Kylee Higgins, 22, from Buzzards Bay. Ms. Higgins car suffered some damage to the passenger side and had to be towed from the scene. She was cited for marked lanes violation, police said.

Saturday, September 19

An arrest was made at 11:16 PM on Scenic Highway. Police said that an officer was assisting Massachusetts State Police troopers with a motor vehicle stop. The officer saw a gray 2011 Dodge Durango pass at a high rate of speed, nearly hitting his cruiser and the state trooper’s vehicle. The officer pursued and stopped the Durango. The driver was identified as Lauren Valencia, 48, from New Bedford. A man in the front passenger seat was seen not wearing a seat belt, police said. The man was identified as Norman Veenstra, Jr., 41, from New Bedford. A check with the Registry of Motor Vehicles showed that Mr. Veenstra has an active warrant out of Brockton District Court charging him with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He was arrested on the warrant charge, and later released on personal recognizance, police said. Ms. Valencia was issued citations for speeding, violation of the state move over law, and operating a motor vehicle after license revoked, police said.

Sunday, September 20

At 12:51 AM, police made an arrest on MacArthur Boulevard. Police said an officer responded to reports of a driver going north on the highway in the southbound lanes. The officer located the vehicle, a gray 2012 BMW, on the northbound side, swerving in and out of lanes and traveling 10 to 15 miles and hour below the posted speed limit. The car was stopped and the driver identified as Joevoan J. LaGuerre, 20, from East Wareham. The officer detected the smell of burnt marijuana coming from inside the car. Mr. LaGuerre showed signs of impairment, police said, and when asked if he knew where he was, he replied New Bedford. He failed a field sobriety test and was arrested. Police said he was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs, marked lanes violation, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. His vehicle was towed and he was later released on personal recognizance, police said.

A two-car crash happened at 2:45 PM near the Bourne Bridge rotary. Police said the driver of a blue 2011 Toyota Camry rear-ended a black 2015 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck. The two vehicles were on the northbound side of the highway approaching the rotary, police said. The driver of the Camry was identified as Kevin Griffiths, 26, from West Brookfield. Mr. Griffiths was cited for following too closely, police said.

Monday, September 21

At 7:29 AM, officers stopped a white 2008 Dodge Ram pickup truck at the intersection of Waterhouse Road and Trowbridge Road. Police said the truck had been clocked going 47 in a 35 miles an hour zone. The truck also had a temporary paper license plate with most of the characters not visible, police said. The driver was identified as Shane Dacruz, 31, from Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Mr. Dacruz was cited for speeding, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and license plate violation, police said.

Wednesday, September 23

Police responded at 12:11 AM to a report of a car being stolen from a home in Sagamore Beach. Police said a woman called from a house on Old Plymouth Road. The woman reported that a male guest had taken some cash from her purse and the keys to her black 2015 Kia Optima. Bourne police said the car was recovered by New Bedford police. The male suspect was identified as Preston Pedrosa, 27, from Wareham. Police said that Mr. Pedrosa will be summonsed to court for charges including motor vehicle larceny.
