The following are excerpts from the Bourne Police Department logs dated Wednesday, September 29, through Tuesday, October 5.

Wednesday, September 29

At 2:38 PM, police were called to the Market Basket grocery store in South Sagamore on reports of a shoplifter. A store employee spotted the suspect leaving the store with a cart loaded with Red Bull that had not been paid for. The employee confronted the suspect, who said he would come back in and pay for the merchandise but ultimately did not. The employee also took a photograph of the vehicle the suspect was walking toward. When officers arrived, they encountered the suspect, identified as John G. Alonardo, 39, from Bourne. The store employee said the cost of the Red Bull came to $504.65. When officers asked Mr. Alonardo why he tried to steal the Red Bull, he said he had a friend who owns a convenience store, and he planned to sell the drinks to his friend. Mr. Alonardo was arrested and charged with shoplifting. He was later released on personal recognizance.

Thursday, September 30

An officer conducting traffic monitoring at 9:04 AM on the Route 6 & 28 Bypass Road issued four citations for speeding. The officer stopped and cited the drivers of a green 2011 Toyota RAV4, a red 2018 Dodge Challenger, a black 2019 Ford Edge and a black 2006 Toyota Camry Solara. Police cited two of the drivers and gave citation warnings to another two for exceeding the posted speed limit of 45 miles an hour on the bypass road.

Sunday, October 3

Police responded at 1:32 PM to a two-car crash at the intersection of Route 28A and Sanderling Drive in Cataumet. A black 2007 Mercedes and a gray 2012 Honda Civic were traveling south on Route 28A. The driver of the Civic slowed and was rear-ended by the Mercedes. The driver of the Honda was taken to an area hospital for evaluation of injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the Mercedes was identified as Lisa Nunez, 49, from Fall River. Police cited Ms. Nunez for following too closely.

Tuesday, October 5

At 4:56 PM, police were called to a two-car crash in Buzzards Bay in the area of 500 Head of the Bay Road. The driver of a red 1980 GMC dump truck crossed over the center line in the road and crashed head-on with a white 2014 Ford F-150 pickup truck. The driver of the Ford was taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries, and his vehicle was towed with significant damage. The driver of the GMC was identified as Joshua Brufee, 28, from Carver. Police cited Mr. Brufee for failing to stay in marked lanes.
