Lightning hit a condominium unit in Brookside Village and set the home’s attic on fire.

Bourne Deputy Fire Chief Joseph J. Carrara Jr. said that firefighters responded to 16 Prestwick Road in Brookside at 8:09 PM Wednesday, July 17.

The fire was contained to the attic and did not extend to two adjoining units on either side of the condo, Dep. Chief Carrara said.

No one was hurt as a result of the fire and no one was transported to the hospital.

Firefighters were on the scene for about three hours, until 11 PM, Dep. Chief Carrara said. He estimated the cost of damage done to the home by the fire at approximately $5,000.
