The Bourne Board of Selectmen has chosen Anthony E. Schiavi of Harwich as the new town administrator.

Mr. Schiavi spent 30 years in the US Air Force. After leaving the Air Force, he served as town manager and police commissioner in Ashland.

The selectmen made their decision Saturday, October 5, following a series of interviews with finalists for the position.

In addition to Mr. Schiavi , the selectmen also interviewed Robin L. Craver, the former town administrator in Charlton, and Robert Whritenour, town administrator in Oak Bluffs.

Each candidate was interviewed for roughly an hour and a half. The sessions were conducted at the Bourne Veterans Memorial Community Center. The board deliberated for about an hour and 20 minutes after the interviews were concluded.

Mr. Schiavi was chosen in a unanimous vote by the board.

He will succeed former Administrator Thomas M. Guerino, whose contract expired September 30.
