Electronic Voting Device

Bourne is having a demonstration of electronic voting devices, similar to this one.

A demonstration of the electronic voting that will take place at next month’s Special Town Meeting has been scheduled.

Residents are invited to attend the demonstration, which will take place on Wednesday, September 18, at 7 PM, in the library at Bourne High School.

The presentation will be made by Option Technologies, the firm supplying the electronic devices that residents attending Town Meeting will use to vote. A question-and-answer period will follow the demonstration.

Residents at Annual Town Meeting in May approved Article 19, which requested $17,749 to lease electronic voting devices for the fall Special Town Meeting. Bourne Town Clerk Barry H. Johnson has said the devices will speed up Town Meeting procedures by eliminating standing votes.

Special Town Meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 21 at 7 PM in the auditorium at Bourne High School.
