Sagamore House Fire

Bourne firefighters responded to a housefire in Sagamore Beach that left the home with significant damage. Bourne fire officials said the damage to the home was enough that the homeowners had to find somewhere else to spend the night.

Bourne Acting Assistant Fire Chief David S. Pelonzi said the fire erupted at 193 Old Plymouth Road around 11:30 PM Thursday, November 19, adding that the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.

“Initially we thought it started inside the home’s chimney because they use a wood stove,” he said. “It could also be an electrical issue.”

The homeowner was expected to meet with fire investigators later on Friday, November 20, to discuss what happened, the assistant chief said.

No one was hurt or needed transport to a hospital. Firefighters were on the scene for about three hours.

Late Friday afternoon, Asst. Chief Pelonzi reported that the investigation confirmed the cause of the fire was an electrical failure.
