A special ceremony took place Thursday, September 5, as seven new firefighters joined the Bourne Fire Department, two longtime firefighters retired, and one firefighter earned a promotion.

The ceremony was held at the fire department’s headquarters on Meetinghouse Lane in Sagamore Beach. Of the seven new members, three were sworn in as Firefighter/Paramedics. They were Matthew Binsfield, Daniel Kelly, and Robert Callahan.

Four new members were sworn in a Firefighter/EMTs. They were Joseph Burchill, Jonathon Ross, Troy Boudro, and Joseph Matrisciano.

Two call firefighters have retired and were honored for their years of service with the department. Robert Lee Hodge served as a call firefighter for 43 years, from 1976 to 2019. Timothy Paul Young, Sr. was a call firefighter with the department for 34 years, from 1985 to 2019.

Finally, Firefighter/Paramedic David M. Cleary II was promoted to the title of Lieutenant/Paramedic with the department.
