A man was taken by medical helicopter to a Boston hospital Thursday evening, June 25 after being found with a gunshot wound in Bourne.

Bourne firefighters responded at 7:34 PM, Thursday to a rest area off Scenic Highway on reports of a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

Bourne fire officials said the victim was treated at the scene, and then taken to the Hoxie School where he was loaded onto a medical helicopter.

The victim, a middle-aged man, was flown to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston with life-threatening injuries, fire officials said.

Bourne police are investigating.
