Taylor Point Jumper

Emergency vehicles respond to Taylor Point Marina, where firefighters picked up a man who had jumped from the Cohasset Narrows Bridge between Bourne and Wareham.

A man was rescued Tuesday afternoon, October 20, after he jumped off the Cohasset Narrows Bridge into Buzzards Bay.

Bourne Deputy Fire Chief Paul Weeks said the man was approximately 50 years of age.

At 1:21 PM Tuesday, the Bourne Fire and Rescue Department was notified  that someone had jumped off the bridge and was floating in the water.

By the time Bourne firefighters arrived at the scene, Dep. Chief Weeks said, the man had already been picked up out of the water by the Wareham harbormaster. The harbormaster then brought the individual to the fueling dock at Taylors Point Marina, Dep. Chief Weeks said.

The man was not injured, and was conscious and alert when brought ashore, Dep. Chief Weeks said. The man was able to walk to an ambulance at the scene that took him to Tobey Hospital in Wareham for examination.

No word was available on why the man jumped from the bridge, Dep. Chief Weeks said.
