A proposed new restaurant goes before the Bourne Board of Health , Wednesday, June 12, seeking a food permit allowing the new eatery to open for business.
The Bridgeview Grille is looking to open in the same building that previously housed the Trowbridge Tavern. The Trowbridge Tavern closed down last year following multiple closures by the health department due to health and safety code violations.
Also on the board of health’s agenda is an update on cleanup efforts in an area of Pocasset from contaminants in the ground caused by firefighting foam. Two tanker truck rollovers and fuel spills at the Otis Rotary—one in 1997 and one in 2000—resulted in the use of firefighting foam, which contained the chemicals Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl compounds (PFAS).
The chemicals made their way into groundwater and may be harmful if consumed.
The board of health will also discuss and vote on possible fines for a Williams Avenue resident who failed to correct violations of the State Sanitary Code, and for Cumberland Farms, whose Monument Beach store committed a tobacco sales violation.
