The Army Corps of Engineers has not closed the Bourne Bridge for deck maintenance.

The Barnstable County Dispatch originally stated that the Bourne Bridge was being shut down and that all traffic was being diverted to the Sagamore Bridge. That information was incorrect, the Army Corps said.

Michele Breen, spokesman for the Army Corps, said that a single pothole had to be filled in, and that type of work typically takes about 3 to 4 minutes to complete.

“There was no official closure,” she said.

Ms. Breen said that she had notified the Bourne Police Department, the Bourne Fire Department and the Massachusetts State Police about the work the Corps was planning to do.
