Sagamore Bridge

Blue sky shows over the Sagamore Bridge

The Massachusetts State Police shut down traffic on the Sagamore Bridge for several hours on Saturday evening, June 11, while several local police departments and fire units worked to console a man in distress.

Bourne Police Sergeant Theodore Economides said Bourne and Sandwich police and fire departments were called to the area around 7:30 PM to check on the well-being of a pedestrian on the bridge.

A Bourne police officer made contact with the individual, coaxed him away from the railing and placed him into protective custody before transporting him to an area hospital for further evaluation.
