A man has been arrested after a manhunt that encompassed much of Buzzards Bay.
At 9:38 PM, Thursday, May 28, Bourne police arrested Brian Thierwechter, 21, from Sandwich. Bourne Police Lieutenant Brandon M. Esip said that Mr. Thierwechter was arrested earlier that evening, and was awaiting release on bail when he fled from police custody at approximately 7:20 PM.
“Police from multiple agencies pursued him on foot throughout the Buzzards Bay area,” Lt. Esip said.
Police took Mr. Thierwechter back into custody in the area of 343 Scenic Highway, by the Speedway gas station. He was transported back to the Bourne Police Department, where he remains in custody, charged with Escape and Resisting Arrest, Lt. Esip said.
Details of Mr. Thierwechter’s arrest earlier in the evening were not released.
Agencies that participated in Mr. Thierwechter’s capture included Massachusetts State Police, Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department, Massachusetts Environmental Police, Wareham Police, and the United States Army Corps of Engineers.
