Bourne police and paramedics responded to Picture Lake on Sunday evening, September 27, after a woman reported driving into the water.
The call came in at around 8:15 PM from a woman who said she had gotten lost while driving home to Teaticket.
When the call first came in, the woman had said that the water was up to her knees. Several minutes later, the water had reached the silver sedan's windows.
Response was hindered by confusion over the woman's location. Initial reports were that she was in the water off Benedict Road but her cellphone was pinging from Old County Road, where Picture Lake is located.
When the first responders arrived on scene, they found the submerged vehicle with the woman still inside. On the scanner she was reported as being partially conscious, and a MedFlight helicopter was called.
Paramedics were able to remove the woman from the vehicle and reported that they were evaluating her and would not require the MedFlight.
The woman was taken by ambulance to Falmouth Hospital.
This incident is under investigation.
