Traffic headed off Cape Cod was slowed for a couple of hours Saturday, October 19, after two cars collided on the mid-Cape highway.

Bourne Deputy Fire Chief Joseph J. Carrara Jr. said that Bourne firefighters were called to the scene at 1:22 PM. He said a Ford Escape collided with a Cadillac sedan shortly before the Sagamore Bridge.

Three people were inside the Ford, he said, and one person was in the Cadillac. Two passengers inside the Escape were taken to Tobey Hospital in Wareham to be treated for injuries.

Neither of the drivers chose to be transport to the hospital, Dep. Chief Carrara said.

Traffic headed off the Cape was slowed for nearly two hours due to the collision on the highway, and a boat trailer that broke down on the bridge shortly before the crash, he said.

Massachusetts State Police also responded to the scene. MSP spokesman Sergeant Nicole Morrell said that no charges have been brought against either driver.
