Two Brookline residents were hospitalized on Friday, January 3, after their car crashed into a tree off MacArthur Boulevard.
Bourne Police responded to the crash, which occurred between the Otis Rotary and Bourne Rotary, at 11:55 AM. An 87-year-old man was driving the car, accompanied by his 84-year-old wife.
"An elderly gentleman and his wife veered off MacArthur Boulevard northbound," Bourne Police Sergeant Michael J. Mulligan said. "They struck a tree and a sign."
Their names have not been released at this time.
"They were taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries," Sgt. Mulligan said.
The crash is under investigation. Sgt. Mulligan said it is unknown what caused the car to veer off the roadway.
While only one car was involved in the initial crash, two other cars were damaged in the incident.
"Two other cars became disabled from debris in the roadway," Sgt. Mulligan said.
One of these cars was towed from the scene, the other was driven away following a tire change.
