Two people were taken to the hospital Saturday, September 21, after a two-car crash in the east rotary in Buzzards Bay.
The crash happened around 9:45 PM. Bourne Police Lieutenant Jonathan R. MacDougall said that a red 2015 Chevrolet Sonic was going the wrong way around the rotary and collided head-on with a black 2018 Jeep Wrangler.
The collision happened in front of the Way Ho restaurant, Lt. MacDougall said. He said that the driver of the Sonic did not have the car’s headlights on. The driver of the Jeep, he said, did not see the Sonic “until it was right on top of them.”
“We were unable to determine where the driver of the Sonic was coming from,” the lieutenant said.
The driver of the Sonic was identified as Lorraine M. Schmoker, 62, from Hyde Park. Ms. Schmoker was cited for wrong way operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle to endanger, and no headlights on, Lt. MacDougall said.
Ms. Schmoker and a passenger in her car were taken to Tobey Hospital in Wareham for treatment of their injuries, he said.
