The Weary Travelers Club has been cleared by the Bourne Health Department to reopen. The Valley Bars Road facility had been shut down due to violations of COVID-19 protocols.
Bourne Health Agent Terri A. Guarino issued an email to town officials announcing that the club passed a recent reinspection. Ms. Guarino said the club underwent and passed a health department inspection on Monday, January 4. She said the club was set to reopen on Tuesday, January 5.
“We’ve seen a major improvement with COVID protocols,” Ms. Guarino said in her email.
The Weary Travelers Club was shut down until further notice on Thursday last week, December 31. A placard was placed on the business stating that the club had “failed to comply with Massachusetts Emergency COVID-19 orders” and state laws.
The club was ordered to “immediately cease and desist all operations.”
A memo issued to the club stated several reasons for the immediate closure. Ms. Guarino cited the business for not notifying the Bourne Board of Health of a known positive case of the virus, not following COVID-19 workplace safety standards, not complying with regulations regarding the reopening of phase I, II or III enterprises, and failing to cooperate with contact tracing efforts.
