Bonnie L. (Blais) Prophett of Bourne, 78, died December 23.

She was the wife of William R. Prophett, whom she married in 1967. Mr. Prophett died in 2016.

Born in Middleborough, she was the daughter of Edgar J. and Pauline R. (Chartier) Blais.

She graduated from Middleborough High School in the Class of 1959. She worked as a telephone operator and an airline stewardess before studying to become a teacher. She attended Bridgewater State College, where she received a bachelor's degree in education.

While teaching, Ms. Prophett completed her master's degree in special education and administration. She taught special education in Middleborough for nearly 30 years.

An avid reader, she also loved playing golf. 

She leaves her daughter, Laura O’Connell of Durham, New Hampshire; two sons, William R. Prophett II of North Falmouth and Robert E. Prophett of Pocasset; three siblings, Janet Washburn, Mary Chiuppi and Michael Blais; nine grandchildren; and extended family.

Ms. Prophett was predeceased by two siblings, Steven Blais and Linda Gammons.

A celebration of her life will be Saturday, January 4, at 1 PM at the Courtyard Restaurant & Pub, 1337 County Road in Cataumet.
