Donald F. Cardin of Tarpon Springs, Florida, a former Bourne resident, died unexpectedly on May 17. He was 75.
The son of Arthur and Alice Guertin Cardin, he was born in North Attleboro, where he graduated from high school before joining the US Army Reserve.
He lived in North Attleboro and later moved his family to Bourne.
Mr. Cardin worked for New England Telephone Company until he retired in 1995. He enjoyed telling a story about his time working for the telephone company, when he was responsible for maintaining the cables for the coaching staff headsets on the field at Sullivan Stadium for the New England Patriots games. Mr. Cardin worked with the visiting team and he had the opportunity to play catch with Joe Namath.
During his retirement years he moved to Isla de Vieques, one of the offshore island municipalities of Puerto Rico, and eventually settled in Tarpon Springs, Florida.
Mr. Cardin loved fishing and hunting—and all the stories that went with them.
He leaves his daughters, Dawn Ayrton and Deborah Cardin; his grandchildren, Sabrina Ayrton, Cameron Ayrton, Danielle Cardin, Donald Ferreira and Jim Williams; his great-grandchildren, Sylis Cardin, Mayzel Green and Erin Williams; a brother, Daniel M Cardin; and other family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dennis Cardin.
