Faris Shaheen Zeghibe, 87, of Cataumet died November 12 at home, after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Boston to Adla (Akiki) Zeghibe and Shaheen Zeghibe, he grew up with seven siblings. Early on, he chose a life of unconditional service to his parents and siblings; then to his country, the Raytheon company and his own family.

A high school graduate who started his career with little more than determination, he recognized the importance of continuing education and he and his wife put their four children through college and graduate education without outside assistance.

Mr. Zeghibe found satisfaction and meaning in all his work, and in his spare time he used his natural talents for engineering and building to create everything from furniture to homes. He encountered nothing he could not fix and never followed any instructions during the process.

He leaves his wife of 64 years, Sara P. Zeghibe of Cataumet; four children, Ronald W. Zeghibe of London, England, Kenneth F. Zeghibe of Mattapoisett, Suzanne F. Ball of London, England, and Douglas A. Zeghibe of Milton; eight grandchildren; and other family.

He was predeceased by his seven siblings.
