Helen Rose Rando of Pocasset died May 5, at the age of 95.
Born in Dorchester, she was the daughter of John and Jennie (LoSchiavo) Paino.
She was the wife of John A. Rando, whom she married in 1947. They raised their family in Wellesley and then retired to Cape Cod. The couple had been married for 71 years when he died in 2018.
Ms. Rando had a love of gardening and baking, the products of which were enjoyed by many.
An aspiring artist in her youth, in recent years she put her talent to use by making jewelry, which she donated along with her homebaked goods to the Bourne Council on Aging’s Holiday Craft Fair to benefit the Bourne Friends Food Pantry. She participated in the annual fair for many years as a volunteer helping with setup for the event at the Bourne Veterans Memorial Community Building in Buzzards Bay.
She leaves her children, JoAnne (Rando) Kuzdzal of Huffman, Texas, John A. Rando Jr. and Linda M. Rando of Pocasset; four grandchildren, Seth Kuzdzal, Todd Kuzdzal, Shanna Kuzdzal and Jennie Kuzdzal Fick; nine great-grandchildren; and extended family members.
A funeral Mass will be said on Monday, May 11, at 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church in Pocasset. Due to limited capacity, virtual attendance can be made at www.stjohnspocasset.org/livestream.
