James Anthony Russo of Pocasset died of natural causes April 22 at Royal Megansett Nursing & Retirement Home in North Falmouth. He was 88.

Mr. Russo was a corporal in the US Marine Corps, and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal prior to his honorable discharge.

He worked as an industrial engineer at Raytheon Missile Systems Division in Bedford, retiring after 32 years. He was the coordinator of the Raytheon Manufacturing Technology Exposition for multiple years.

A former resident of Burlington, there he was a member of the Marine Corps League Detachment and the Sons of Italy; he also belonged to the Moose Lodge of Waltham. He was a past selectman candidate and constable in Burlington.

In addition, Mr. Russo was a notary public and a justice of the peace; a realtor; and a past member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He was also involved in the Marine Corps League Toys for Tots program.

He leaves his wife, Barbara (Thomas) Russo of Pocasset; his children, James Russo of Derry, New Hampshire, Kenneth Russo of Burlington and Linda Watson, also of Derry; three stepchildren, David Carlson and Dana Carlson, both of Wareham, and Debbie Rubicine of Palm Beach, Florida; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean R. (MacNeill) Russo.

Services were to be private.
