Jane H. Ferris, 87, of Pocasset died October 10 at Royal Megansett Nursing & Retirement Home in North Falmouth.

The daughter of Susie (Woodford) and William Haward, she was the youngest of three. She grew up in Wellesley, where she graduated from the Dana Hall School, and then attended Colby Junior College in New London, New Hampshire.

She was married to Jim Ferris from 1956 to 1975. They lived in Dover and raised four children there.

Ms. Ferris moved to Medfield in 1983 and later lived in Arizona, where she spent a few years exploring the Sedona area and its vibrant arts community. She moved to Yarmouth in 2003, and worked as a private home health aide. In 2015 she joined the community at Cape Cod Senior Residences in Pocasset.

An avid reader, Ms. Ferris also was a collector of antiques, and stayed current on politics. She enjoyed walks on the beach and bird watching.

She leaves four children, Susan Philipp of Orange, California, Hamilton Ferris of Pocasset, William Ferris of Norfolk and Ann Ferris of Hollis, New Hampshire; four grandchildren, Michael Ferris, Nicholas Ferris, Austin Philipp and Hannah Philipp; and extended family.

Memorial service information will be announced when a date has been determined.
