Jordan Phinney of Marshfield, who spent his youth in Pocasset, died May 21. He was 83.

He was the husband of Evelyn Phinney.

He was the son of Dexter and Winifred (Jordan) Phinney.

After graduating from Bourne High School, he attended Long Beach City College.

Mr. Phinney joined the Navy in 1954 and spent time on three ships, traveling to the Far East and the Arctic.

He worked as the Boston Regional Construction Manager for the McDonald’s Corporation until his retirement.

Mr. Phinney was a member of the Mayflower Society with three direct lines to the Mayflower, which he discovered after researching his genealogy. He enjoyed sailing and traveling.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Kari Leighton of Sandwich; a son, Scott Phinney and his wife, Jennifer Phinney, of Pembroke; five grandchildren, Jordan, Kelsey, and Colby Leighton of Sandwich and Zachary and Joshua Phinney of Pembroke; a sister, Sara L. McCarthy of Hobe Sound, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by another sister, Alynn Phinney; and a brother, John Phinney.

The family graveside service was to be private.
