Margaret Claire Bergeron, 88, of Pocasset died at home on November 17.

She was the wife of Rene Roger Bergeron, to whom she was married for 64 years. He died December 23, 2016.

Born in Quincy, she was the daughter of Helen E. (Knight) and Arthur Leary and was a graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1948.

Following her husband’s active duty years in the US Air Force, the couple settled in Pocasset, where they built a home and raised their nine children. Ms. Bergeron also was the director of the childcare center at Otis Air Force Base for many years, where she was called “Miss Peg.”

She was known for decorating her home for each holiday season and every occasion of significance.

She leaves her children, Jane DeLue and her husband, Gilbert DeLue, Paul Bergeron and his wife, Cynthia Jaquith, David Bergeron and his wife, Joanne Bergeron Renee Coady and her husband, William Coady, Alice Sullivan, Judithanne Eldredge and her husband, Edgar Eldredge, Emily Migliaccio and her husband, Robert Migliaccio, and Christopher Bergeron and his wife, Kristin Bergeron; a sister, Alice Driscoll; 21 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a large extended family.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Linda Tocci; and two siblings, Elinor Leary and Arthur Leary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 25, at 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 820 Shore Road in Pocasset.

Interment will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
