Mary Eleanor Dow of Buzzards Bay, who was known as Ellie, died April 22 at the age of 95.

She was the wife of Edward F. Dow Sr.; her husband died in 2013.

Born and raised in Framingham, she was the daughter of Hugh D. Gillis and Mary J. (Maclellan) Gillis. She was a graduate of Framingham High School.

While in high school she worked for the Farmers Exchange, which she and her husband eventually purchased and continued to run for more than 20 years.

Ms. Dow's love of gardening resulted in her yard being known as a “picturesque landscape.” She also applied these efforts on the grounds of Heritage Museums & Gardens in Sandwich through a local garden club.

She served as a Eucharistic minister at St. Margaret's Church for many years.

At the time of her death Ms. Dow was living at Keystone Place at Buzzards Bay.

She leaves six children, Julie Witzell, Jean Dow, Joan Stone, Marilyn Stirk, Edward F. Dow Jr. and Eleanor Chiccarelli; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a large extended family.

Visiting hours will be Tuesday, April 27, from 4 to 6 PM at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Boulevard in Bourne.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said Wednesday, April 28, at 10 AM at St. Margaret's Church in Buzzards Bay.

Burial will follow on Wednesday afternoon at 1:15 at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
