Oscar Yohai of Bourne and Bonita Springs, Florida, died on March 9 in Bonita Springs. He was 90.
He was the husband of Jeanette Carroll Yohai for 58 years. His wife died in 2013.
Born in New York City, he was the son of Morris and Lena (Benezra) Yohai.
He was a graduate of New York University and the University of Hartford.
For more than 30 years, Mr. Yohai was a teacher and administrator in Connecticut and Massachusetts. He specialized in reading and special education.
He was a past master of the DeWitt Clinton Lodge in Sandwich. A Shriner, he was active in the clown unit, where as Yo Yo the clown, he helped raise money for Shriner Hospitals.
Mr. Yohai was also active in his Chabad congregations in Bonita Springs and on Cape Cod, and was proud to have traced his ancestry back to the 2nd century and Rabbi Simeon Ben Yohai.
He leaves two sons, Walter Yohai of Bourne and Mark Yohai and his wife, Beth Yohai, of Westboro; two grandchildren, Samara Yohai and Allana Yohai; and a sister, Kitty Hattem of Del Ray, Florida.
He was predeceased by his sister Delcie Bucknoff.
A Masonic service is set for Friday, March 15, at 10 AM at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Boulevard in Bourne.
Burial will be private.
