Robert A. Spetelunas of Yarmouthport, 85, died December 18 after a long battle with cancer. He leaves family in Buzzards Bay.

He was the husband of Ruth Spetelunas; his wife died in September 2001.

The only child of Anthony and Mona Spetelunas, he was originally from Worcester and graduated from North High School in 1954. He went on to serve four years in the US Navy; he then attended Bryant College, graduating with a degree in business administration.

After working for UPS for several years, Mr. Spetelunas had a 30-year career as a stockbroker with Bache & Co. (later Prudential Bache Securities) in Hyannis.

He leaves four children, Bill White of Southport, North Carolina, Ginny Gilbert of Cummaquid, Steve Spetelunas of Claremont, New Hampshire, and Mark Spetelunas of Buzzards Bay; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; extended family members; and his longtime companion, Ronnie O’Connor of South Dennis.

A private celebration of his life and interment at the Ancient Cemetery in Yarmouthport will be scheduled at a later date.
