Robert Collett

Robert D. Collett III of The Villages, Florida, a former resident of Cataumet, died August 19 after a six-month period of declining health. He was 79.

Born in Boston, he was the eldest of the three children of Robert D. Collett II and Jennie Marie Collett.

Mr. Collett had also lived in Brockton.

He leaves his sons, Robert D. Collett IV and his wife, Lisa Collett, of Pocasset, Richard W. Collett of Westborough, and Paul E. Collett of Pocasset; a sister, Barbara Navin of Brockton; a brother, William Collett of Brockton; his longtime partner, Joan Shields of The Villages, Florida; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; and other family.

He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis A. (Chiruna) Collett, who died in 1997.

A service is planned for Friday, October 1, at 8:45 AM at St. Margaret’s Church, 141 Main Street in Buzzards Bay.

Following private burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, there will be a celebration of his life at The Bog Tavern, 11 Brigadoone Road in Bourne, from noon to 3 PM.
