Robert Joseph Riley, 88, of Bourne died unexpectedly on September 22 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.

He was born in Cambridge, the son of Edward and Margaret (Mullally) Riley.

He was the widower of Peggy (Rattray) Riley. They had shared 64 years of marriage.

Following high school, Mr. Riley joined the United States Air Force, serving for 22 years.

Next he joined the Bourne Department of Natural Resources, where he remained for 14 years, and then he ran Bob’s Sharpening Service for 17 years.

During their retirement, he and his wife spent many years wintering at their home in Clearwater, Florida.

He leaves two sons, Richard Riley and Roy Riley; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three siblings.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Nancy Riley, JoAnn Riley and Eileen Malone.

Mr. Riley’s funeral with a Masonic service and military honors was Tuesday, September 29, at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home in Bourne.
