William Trucchi

William M. Trucchi Jr. of Pocasset, vice president and co-owner of Trucchi’s Supermarkets, died November 25. Mr. Trucchi, 74, died at home after a battle with cancer in recent years.

He was born in Taunton, the son of William M. Trucchi Sr. and Violet (Nolet) Trucchi. He attended Taunton schools and was a 1965 graduate of Monsignor Coyle High School.

Mr. Trucchi worked from an early age with his father and siblings to build a successful supermarket chain of stores in southeastern Massachusetts that have been in business since 1928.

He served in the US Army Reserve.

A communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Pocasset, he also was an active member of Pocasset Golf Club. He enjoyed traveling with his close friends and, in his younger years, hunting and fishing.

Mr. Trucchi was a member and past president of the Frozen Food Association of New England; and a member of the Massachusetts Food Association as well as several other industry-sponsored charitable organizations.

During his years living in West Bridgewater he was a supporter of youth athletics and a member of the West Bridgewater Gridiron Club.

He leaves his children and their spouses, Billy and Shari Trucchi of West Bridgewater, Maria and Jamie Yarnall of Pocasset, Gina and David Hutchins of Fall River and Jason and Ann Marie Trucchi of Old Tappan, New Jersey; 10 grandchildren; five siblings, David Trucchi of Plymouth, James Trucchi of Raynham, Deborah Oldfield of Onset, and Roy Trucchi and Kim Cloutier, both of Taunton; and extended family members.

He was predeceased by three sisters, Judith Rodier, Wilma Trucchi and Nina Lema.

Visitation will be Friday, December 3, from 4 to 7 PM at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 584 West Falmouth Highway.

A funeral Mass will be said on Saturday, December 4, at 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 841 Shore Road in Pocasset.

Burial will be private.
