Members of Bourne Cares and Bourne Opt Out thank all of the residents who came to the Special Town Meeting October 28 and 29 to keep the ban on retail marijuana shops. Usually, nearly not as many people show up on the second night of a Town Meeting, but they did this time, even though there were other townwide events that same night keeping some pro ban people from attending. However, there were still enough Bourne residents who attended and voted “No” to a business that was setting out to sell millions of dollars worth of drugs in our community.

So despite the fact that the editorial in the November 1 edition of the Bourne Enterprise claimed that people were fine with drugs being sold in our state and towns, the vote at the Bourne STM said otherwise, just as it did last October and in other votes in the past. This issue is not going away soon, as The Haven Center is still in litigation with the town, so we ask that everyone stay educated, aware, and willing to continue to fight to keep the ban on marijuana retail establishments.

The fact that nearly 800 registered voters attended the first STM shows us that residents care about our town, our children and the well-being of all citizens. We thank Bourne residents for taking the time to attend this very important Special Town Meeting to keep our fine quality of life in Bourne as it is.
