As a longtime resident of Bourne, I would to take a moment to thank Fire Chief Norman Sylvester for his service to the town and wish him an enjoyable retirement.

Under his leadership I felt his various efforts added value to the town. I don’t know a lot about the fire department policies and procedures, but I did have opportunities to interact with the chief while serving on the building inspector’s board of survey. I thought his actions to relocate headquarters to the fire station building in Sagamore Beach and establishing the assistant chief position benefited the town.

The one message I would like to send Chief Sylvester as he begins his retirement is that during his time here, I felt safe. Thank you for your service.
