Javarie James — November 7, 2019

Bourne sophomore Javarie James provided one of the few bright spots in the boys’ soccer team’s Division 4 South Sectional preliminary round road game against Monomoy.

Though the 18th-seeded Canalmen lost 3-1 to the 15th-seeded Sharks on Sunday, November 3, in Harwich, James had the team’s lone goal in defeat.

With 18:43 left in the second half, Bourne trailed 2-0 before James settled a throw-in from senior co-captain Armond Eldredge and rifled off a shot from just inside the box to pull with a goal, 2-1.

“It was on a volley, and I sent it in to the top corner,” James said. “I was surprised it went in, honestly.”
