The Bourne High School girls’ track and field team might not have enough athletes to win an overall meet right now, but the quality of the athletes the team does have has enabled the squad to win plenty of individual events. Going up against Fairhaven, the Lady Canalmen dropped a 51-34 decision in their most recent outing. The team earned eight first-place finishes overall.
Emerson Rogers led the team to a win in the 55-meter dash with a great time of 7.8 seconds. Teammate Cassidy Bonzagni was third overall in 8.6 seconds. Rogers earned another win for the club in the 300-meter race, finishing that one in a time of 48.1 seconds. Bonzagi was the runner-up in that race, earning a time of 52.7 seconds.
Grace Russell earned a win in the 55-meter hurdles. She topped the field with a time of 11.17 seconds. Russell posted another win in the 600-meter race with a time of 2:00.15. Lilly Russell was the second-place finisher, running 2:13.28. Russell took a third-place finish in the 1,000-meter race as well, running a clip of 4:24.
In the 1,000-meter race, Siena Savedra-Bagkonas was the winner with a time of 4:05. She also claimed the win in the mile race with a time of 6:22.
Emerson Rogers won the high jump for BHS with a leap of four feet and six inches. Grace Russell was second at 4-4. Russell took first in the shot put, throwing a distance of 24-5.25.
