Amid blustery playing conditions the sectional-bound Bourne golf team fell in a nonleague match on Tuesday, October 8.

Playing on the par 35 front nine of Quashnet Valley Golf Club in Mashpee, the Canalmen all trailed Colin Spencer’s three-under 32 on the afternoon.

The Falcons’ top player, Spencer earned 42 points in the Stableford format and won his match with Bourne’s top player, Jared Baptist (21 points), 8-1, that helped Mashpee to a 141-106 win.

Kam Sassone (24 points) halved his match with Mashpee’s Kyle Puchol (21 points), but outscored his Falcon counterpart. Mya Murphy fell to Jack Spencer, 7.5-1.5, and she earned 18 points in the process. Jake Lunedei earned 16 points in his losing match to Casey Fitzgerald, 6.5-2.5.

Bourne’s Ben Halunen (11 points) won his team’s only match on the afternoon, defeating Jack Howard, 5.5-3.5. Nick Petrillo rounded out the Canalmen scorecard and added seven points in a 6-3 match defeat.

When these two teams last met at The Brookside Club, the Falcons won 119-102, on September 24.

Bourne 128, Case 109

The Canalmen defended their home turf against the Cardinals in South Coast Conference win on October 3.

Playing on the par-35 front nine of The Brookside Club, Halunen led the field with a 28-point performance. Case’s top two players, Zack Brown and Cade Capaldo, were next with 26 and 24 points, respectively. Petrillo and Baptist each contributed 23 points while Brandan Anderson (22 points) wasn’t too far behind.

Sassone (17 points) and Lunedei (15 points) helped complete the win, outscoring the Cardinals final three players.

Following a road rainout on Wednesday, October 9, against Somerset-Berkley, Bourne (9-5, 8-4 SCC) completed its regular season and will play in their South Coast Conference championship tournament at the Bay Pointe Club on Friday, October 11, at 12:30 PM.
