The Bourne High volleyball team opened its season with a pair of wins, most recently against Wareham on Tuesday, March 30. The Canalwomen routed their rivals from just across the bridge with a three-set sweep.
Bourne scored victories of 25-7, 25-9 and 25-11.
“We never let up and played all 14 players in a strong home debut,” coach Dave Moore said.
Bourne rolled with several big performances. Outside hitter Emma Undiz had three kills and seven aces. Defender Delaney Jensen had six aces and played well defending. Middle hitter Gianna Lowden had two blocks and two kills and fellow middle Quinn Hawkes had three blocks and two kills. Setter Jill Orth had seven aces and ran the offense well and Isabella DiPaolo landed three aces.
Last Friday, in their opener against Apponequet, Bourne scored a 3-0 win over the Lakers.
In the rout over the Lakers, setter Jill Orth had 10 aces and doled out 20 assists. Kieley O’Connor, an outside hitter, had 14 kills in the match. Lowden had five kills. Sophia Amaral had 10 digs, and DiPaolo came away with seven digs.
